Hello everyone!

I hope you are all well and staying safe!

With these past two weeks, I have found myself at a loss for words which, as a writer, can seem a tad bit ironic. Each time I try to put paper to pen (or rather fingertips to laptop keys), I find myself stuck on what to say. The past week has been an explosion of emotions. Yet, for Black people weeks such as this one have occurred and will continue to occur. Perhaps that is why I am finding it difficult to vocalise my feelings as I am struggling with this neverending cycle of brutality and racism we are stuck in.

Systemic racism and white supremacy will forever be the reason I wake up and roam this earth a little sad and angry every day. How do I quantify that pain into one, five, a thousand essays? How do I make my experience readable yet true and honest? When will we as a community be heard?

I don’t know the answers to these questions. However, I do know the reason I am yet to succumb to my pain is due to our writers. The stories I read allow me to believe that things can get better. They show me that there is a possibility of hope.

In past month we have hit 4k followers. So I’d like to take a moment to thank our writers for sharing their stories and for our readers for reading them. It has not been an easy year, so your ongoing support is my hope.

We, as a publication, will continue to foster an environment for education and activism. We all must take a moment to support each other, check into each other, and everything else in-between.

We must continue to fight. So that is precisely what we will do.

We are now on Instagram!

Our goal as a publication is to shine a light to our talented writers. We are coming up to our one year anniversary so we thought it was time to expand beyond Twitter and medium.com! In that light, we have started a Instagram page. You can find us @aninjusticemag. We will be posting our top three stories of the week, monthly splotlights and more!

So give us a follow! And let our journey begin.

Please also give it 5 days to be added as a writer!
